CommentSynonymy after SMITH 1943 and Köhler et al. 2023. “Wall has pointed out (1909) that Blyth’s hexagonatus is a juvenile specimen of cyanea, but his wish to retain the name hexagonatus by transferring the authorship to Stoliczka is not possible under the Rules of Nomenclature. The name hexagonatus must become a synonym of cyanea, and the next one available is Günther’s ochracea.” (cited after SMITH 1943). B. multomaculata and B. ochracea are closely related and may be conspecific (Weinell et al. 2020, 2021). Köhler et al. 2023 synonymized walli with ochracea.

Note that the original name has been cited as Dipsas ochraceus GÜNTHER 1868 or Dipsas ochraceus THEOBALD in GÜNTHER 1868. However, the paper by Theobald seems to have been published before that of Günther (and Günther actually refers to Theobald in his paper although without providing a published source).

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).
