Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Scelotes praeornatus ANGEL 1938 has been previously synonymized with Amphiglossus frontoparietalis, but removed from synonymy by ANDREONE & GREER 2002. GREER re-synonymized A. praeornatus with A. frontoparietalis [F. Glaw, pers. comm.].

EtymologyApparently named after Latin frons, frontis = forehead, and Latin paries = wall, relating to the frontal and parietal bones or shields of the skull. In the original description it is emphasized that the large frontal shield of this and related species originated through fusion with the frontoparietal.
