CommentSynonymy partly after COGGER 1983, who listed Vermicella fasciata STIRLING & ZIETZ 1893 as a synonym of Simoselaps fasciolatus.

EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin fasciolus (little band) plus -atus (possession of), referring to the body pattern. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
