CommentSynonymy after INGER & MARX 1965. Calamaria bogorensis is a synonym of Calamaria virgulata fide Boulenger 1894: 340.

Distribution: not on Sulawesi, although reported from there by MÜLLER 1895. Reports from Sulawesi are actually C. virgulata (A. Koch, pers. comm., 18 July 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin modestus, restrained, mild; modest; reserved, possibly for the small size or inconspicuous coloration.
