EtymologyNamed in honor of Brooke Low who gave the specimen to the London Natural History Museum.

Calamaria lovii wermuthi was named after German herpetologist Heinz Wermuth (1918-2002). See Friederich 2003 for an obituary.

Calamaria lovii ingermarxorum was named after American herpetologists Robert F. Inger (1920-1919) and Hymen Marx (1925-2007), who both worked at the Fields Museum in Chicago.
