Subspecies
Common Names
SynonymCalumma jejy RAXWORTHY & NUSSBAUM 2006
DistributionNE Madagascar, summit area of Marojejy Mountain (1800-2130 m elevation)

Type locality: Madagascar, Antsiranana Province, Sam-
bava Fivondronana, Marojejy Reserve, Marojejy Mountain, 14°26.8’S, 49°44.1’E, 1800 m elevation.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: AMNH 144119 (APR 1072) adult male.
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A Calumma chameleon from Mada- gascar that differs from all congeners by the combination of the complete absence of a male rostral appendage or appendages; the presence of a pair of large occipital lobes dorsally united to each other by up to 3 mm in adult; the presence of conical tubercles on the distal surfaces of limbs; the presence of adult gular spines ,2 mm in length, and the presence of a female dorsal crest on the posterior half of the body. Calumma jejy is most similar to C. tsaratananense, but can be distinguished by the length of the adult gular spines (,2 mm vs. .2 mm), the extent of the male dorsal crest serrations (not heavily serrated on the distal half of the tail vs. heavily serrated on the distal half of the tail), and form of the female dorsal crest on the posterior half of body (present vs. absent) [from RAXWORTHY & NUSSBAUM 2006].
CommentHabitat: The species is partly (or mostly?) terrestrial, and partly (mostly?) arboreal.

Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017).
EtymologyNamed after the Malagasy name ‘Marojejy’ meaning ‘many jejy,’with jejy apparently referring to the rounded rocks at the summit that resemble ‘jejy’ gourds used to make traditional musical instruments.
