Introduced to Micronesia (Weno Island) and Guam (G. Rodda, pers. comm., 13 March 2016).

Type locality: Papua New Guinea, Manus Province, Los Negros Island, Salami village.

EtymologyNamed after the Papuan pidgin word “ailan” for island and “palai” for lizard.
