Type locality: Ca. 15 km W (by logging roads) Gros Cheval, northeastern slopes of Pic la Selle, 2020 m, Département de l'Ouest, Haiti.

Abundance: only known from the type specimens (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after Greek, macros, long (large in common usage), and otos, ear, in reference to the large EAM (= external auditory meatus).
