CommentConservation: apparently extinct; has not been found since 1898 (fide GREER 1976, Chapple et al. 2020, in prep.).

Type Species: Euprepes coctei DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1839 is the type species of the genus Macroscincus Bocage, 1873. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Jean Theodore Cocteau (1798-1838), a physician and scientist.
