Distribution	Australia (Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island) Type locality: Norfolk Is., Lord Howe Is., Champion Bay, NW coast of Australia (the latter presumed to be in error, fide Cogger (1971).

Comment	Type species: Phyllodactylus guentheri BOULENGER 1885 is the type species of the genus Ridegekko WELLS & WELLINGTON 1985: 15.
Etymology	Named after Albert Günther (1830-1914), German-born zoologist at the British Museum.
