CommentSynonymy: Wallach et al. 2014 list Chrysopelea ornata sinhaleya as a synonym of Chrysopelea ornata.

Distribution: Possibly in Bhutan (Lenz 2012). Not on Pulau Tioman according to GROSSMANN & TILLACK 2004. Not on Sulawesi fide DE LANG & VOGEL 2005.Reports from Indonesia represent C. paradisi (VOGEL, pers. comm.). Not in Hong Kong fide Francis 2021.

Behavior: diurnal. Very shy but also aggressive, bites when approached (Golder 1985).

Type species: Coluber Ornatus SHAW 1802 is the type species of the genus Chrysopelea BOIE in SCHLEGEL 1826.

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyThe Latin ornata, -us, = decorated" or "ornamented," refers to the ornate coloration.
