DistributionBolivia (Florida: Santa Cruz)

Type locality: area of Villa Merced (18°6’S, 64°11’W), Province Florida, Department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The area lies in
about 1300 m elevation in the inter-Andean dry valleys of Bolivia.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: MNK R 867; an adult male, Museo Historia Natural Noel Kempff Mercado, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, collected by Frey Andre´s Langer op. on 14 April, 1994.
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Clelia langeri can be distinguished from all other members of the genus by having two loreals instead of one. Furthermore 36 of 37 specimens present 21 scale rows in the neck region, whereas all other Clelia species have only 19. Together with C. rustica this is the only species of the genus where juveniles do not undergo ontogenetic color pattern change.
Comment
EtymologyNamed after Fray Andre´s Langer op., a Dominican monk who started collecting reptiles in the area nine years ago and together with his collaborators from the local population has contributed more than 1400 specimens to the herpetological scientific collection in the Museum of Natural History Noel Kempff Mercado, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
