TypesHolotype: BMNH (female), 32.0 mm SVL, ‘purchased from Dr. Kelaart, Ceylon’ (formerly a syntype of Gymnodactulus kandianus Kelaart, 1852). 
CommentDiagnosis Cnemaspis amith differs from its peninsular Indian and Sri Lankan congeners by a combination of the following characters. Maximum SVL 33.0 mm; paired postmentals separated by a medial scale; each postmental bounded by 2 scales; ventrals, 123–131; dorsal scales homogeneous, granular unkeeled, with enlarged tubercles; 5 spine-like tubercles on flanks; gular scales carinate, pectoral and abdominal scales smooth; 3 preanal pores and 3 femoral pores on each side; subcaudals with a median series of smooth, enlarged scales; supralabials to angle of jaws, 8; lamellae under digit IV of pes, 18 or 19.
