Diagnosis | Diagnosis: “taylori can only be distinguished from the rest by the combination of dorsal and lateral stripe width, 5 + 2(1/2) 2 + 1(1/2)–3, and infralabials and tail% in relation to michoacanensis” (E.N. Smith, pers. comm., 23 March 2010). |

Etymology | Named after Dr. Edward Harrison Taylor (1889-1978), a zoologist and herpetologist. He went to teach in a Philippine village school (1912), returning briefly to his university, Kansas, to finish his master's and doctorate (1926). |
