DistributionRepublic of South Africa (isolated populations at Matjesfontein, Prince Albert, and near Meiringspoort)

Type locality: just north of Matjesfontein [Western Cape Province], South Africa.

aridus: Republic of South Africa (Western Cape Province); Type locality: Farm Botterkraal, Prince Albert District, Western Cape Province, South Africa, 33° 25' 22" S, 22° 05' 21" E.

cloetei: Republic of South Africa (Northern Cape Province);Type locality: Farm De Hoek, Nuweveld Mountains, Fraserburg District, South Africa, 32° 09' 31’’, S, 21°43' 17’’ E.

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Tolley et al. 2021 synonymized C. aridus and C. cloetei with C. minor.

NCBI taxonID: 884245 [aridus] 
EtymologyNamed after its relatively small size compared to other (sub-) species in the genus.

C. aridus was named after the arid environment in which this species lives.

C. cloetei was named after Jos Cloete who owns the farm De Hoek, where this species was discovered. It was named after him "in appreciation of his hospitality and keen interest in nature."
