Type locality: Mitchell Plateau, in 14° 52’ S, 125'50’ E, W. A.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A medium sized (40–44 mm SVL), longlegged, very shallow-headed, saxicoline Cryptoblepharus, distinguished from Australian congeners by combination of modal values of six supraciliary scales, 26 mid-body scale rows, 45 paravertebral scales, 19 subdigital lamellae under fourth toe, 8 palmar and 10 plantar scales; mean values of hindlimb length 44.6% of snout-vent length, head depth 32.5% of head length, paravertebral scale width 3.7% of snout-vent length, dorsolateral scale width 92.3% of paravertebral scale width; reddish, randomly blotched body pattern and saxicoline habits. EtymologyFrom the Greek megas (large) plus stiktos (spotted), in refernce to the colour pattern. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
