TypesHolotype: NTM R10900, adult male, coll. P. Horner, 1400 hours, 14 October 1982. Active amongst beach debris (driftwood and broken coral boulders). 
CommentSympatry: Occurs in sympatry with C. cygnatus and C. litoralis horneri on New Year Island, Northern Territory. 
EtymologyFrom the Margu Aboriginal language, Gurrmul being the name given to New Year Island, the type locality. Used as a noun in apposition.
