Type locality: Aroona Waters (138'21’ E, 30° 35’ S), Flinders Ranges, S. A.

Diagnosis 
CommentHabitat: saxicolous. Amphibolurus decresii is found on rocks which are predominantly pinkish yellow, whereas A. vadnappa is found on rocks which are dark reddish brown.

EtymologyFrom the local Aboriginal language for "boy painted for initiation ceremony", part of the local name for the species. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
