Type locality: Perth, W. A.

aranda: Simpson desert south to Lake Eyre basin.

brooksi: E deserts of Western Australia, adjacent desert regions of SW Northern Territory and W South Australia.

iridis: W Victoria and adjacent parts of South Australia.

Holotype: NMV D53837, from 6. 6 kni ENE of Chinaman Well, Vic. [iridis] 
CommentSynonymy modified after COGGER 1983.

Abundance: not uncommon, with more than 200 specimens collected (Pianka 2011)

Subspecies: Ctenotus brooksi euclae STORR 1971 is now treated as valid species.
