Etymology | Named after the Greek κύκλος (= circle) and ουρά (= tail) in reference to the round tail characteristic of this genus and this species. C. c. figginsi was named after “Mr. Figgins” for “depositing the type in Cambridge.” J.D. Figgins was former Director of the Colorado Museum of Natural History in Denver and authorized the expedition during which the type specimens were collected. C. c. inornata was named after the Latin inornatus (unadorned) in reference to the relatively plain coloration or scalation. |
