Etymology | Named after Joseph Harvey Riley (1873-1941), a biologist and ornithologist at the Smithsonian (1896-1941) who became Associate Curator of Birds (1932). C. r. cristata was named after Latin crista = tuft or crest; cristata = crested. C. r. nuchalis was named after the Latin nucha, meaning nape. |
