Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A medium-sized species of Gonydactylus with an adult body size up to 70-72 mm in SVL; no preanal groove; femoral pores and enlarged femoral scales absent; preanal pores present; dorsal surface of the body with fine granules arranged into irregular longitudinal rows; scale rows between the distinct ventrolateral folds 38-39; tail not segmented; transversely widened subcaudal scales ab sent; dark irregular spots on the dorsum present; tail longer than snout-vent length, the end-limbs not reaching the axilla (Darevsky et al. 1997). |
Comment | Synonymy: Gonydactylus KUHL & VAN HASSELT 1822 is a nomen nudum. Authorship: note that one of the authors was misspelled on the original paper as “Helfeberger” instead of Helfenberger. |
Etymology | Named after Markus Comba (b.1956), a Swiss antiquarian book-seller and book-restorer, who is also a naturalist. He supported several expeditions to Central Asia and to Nepal. |
