Types | Holotype: ZFMK 27095, Syntype: ZMH R04348 (formerly no. 849 (4335); formerly 8 syntypes deposited in the “Zoologisches Museum der Universität Göttingen” (Böhme & Bischoff 1984). The designation of a lectotype by SHCHERBAK & GOLUBEV (1986) is invalid as WERNER (1917) himself had designated already the holotype. |
Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Anterior pair of enlarged postmehtals in contact; no subfemoral tubercles; males with four preanal pores; subcaudal scales one head-width behind vent enlarged, plate-like, in single median series; snout length 1-1/2 times diameter of eye; dorsal tubercles distinctly smaller than interspaces, rounded; peritoneum darkly pigmented; limbs and tail thin, attenuate; 10-16 abdominal scales across middle of belly (6-8 scales across belly in distance equal to length of snout). (Leviton et al. 1992) |
Comment | Synonymy: Has been synonymized with Gymnodactylus (=Cyrtopodion) agamuroides by WETTSTEIN 1951 (cited in WERMUTH 1965). Distribution: See map in SMID et al. 2014 for distribution in Iran. Nomenclature: the specific epithet gastropholis is a noun in apposition and not an adjective! |
