Type locality: Le Bosquet, Langbian Plateau, S. Annam

TypesLectotype: BMNH 1946.8.3.3 (designated by GREER 1985) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Differs from all other species in having the rostral sutures complete but joining to form a single median suture just above the tip of the snout, and 22 scale rows (Greer 1985: 149). 
CommentSome specimens formerly considered as being D. montanus have been described as D. kondaoensis by Honda et al. (2001).

Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “montanus”, meaning “pertaining to mountains.
