Type locality: „57 km W Schiras (= 8 km E Dashtarjan, an der alten Straße nach Schiras), ca. 2100 m ü. d. M“ [Iran].

TypesHolotype: NMW 19588 according to the original description and tiedeMann et al. (1994). 
Diagnosis 
CommentThe subgeneric allocation of this species remains unclear because NAGY et al. (2004) did not have any DNA available for analysis, but they speculate that it probably belongs to Pediophis. 
Etymologynamed in honor of Karl Heinz Rechinger, director of the Natural History Museum of Wien, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
