6 upper labials differentiate this species from all other species of Elapsoidea. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Jean-Francois Trape (b. 1949), a physician and herpetologist at Institut de Recherche pour le Development, Dakar, Senegal, where he conducts research into malaria.
