Type locality: “Halmaheira, im Norden, Westen und Osten die gemeinste Eidechsenart, namentlich auf Waldboden”

CommentSynonymy: Bauer (1994) proposed to suppress the name Euprepes samoensis moluccensis in favor of Emoia sorex, since the former has not been used since 1864 and thereby threatens nomenclatural stability.

Distribution: not in Celebes = Sulawesi, fide Koch 2012: 317. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin sorex = mouse, field mouse, maybe because it is found on forest floor, moving around like a mouse.
