DiagnosisDiagnosis: JACKSON 1978: 22. 
CommentJACKSON (1978) suggested that E. bibronii, E. pictus and E. catenatus were intergrading subspecies of one species.

Distribution: See map in Breitman et al. 2019: 357 (Fig. 1).

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (50-80%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyNamed after Gabriel Bibron (1806-1848), French zoologist.
