Type locality: 5-10 miles east-northeast of Nimla, along old Kabul-Jalalabad road, approximately 10 miles southwest of Balabagh, Afghanistan [34°19-21’ N., 70°10-15' E.], at an elevation of about 3,500 feet.

EtymologyApparently named after an ancient region of Persia, now Afghanistan, in which the type locality is located. Anderson & Leviton did not explain the etymology though.
