Type locality: Vicinity of Ai-Dere-Tuzli-Tepe, Kara-Kalinskii, Turkmenistan  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: NMNHU (formerly ZIK) 4; Paratypes: ZISP 6526, 8784-8786, 12750, NMNHU; ZFMK 14393, male, Institute of Zoology and Parasitology of Uzbekistan. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Differs from nominal subspecies (strauchi) in having larger scales: 19-28 gulars, 48-59 dorsals, 20-26 scales in ninth or tenth caudal annulus (Anderson 1999: 226). 
CommentDistribution: See map in SMID et al. 2014 for distribution in Iran. 
EtymologyNamed after its occurrence in the Kopet Dagh range.
