Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Lower nasal resting on 2 or 3 supralabials; subocular bordering mouth; lateral scales of fourth toe not forming distinct fringe; series of femoral pores sepa- rated by space at least one-third length of each (Anderson 1999: 224, Figs. 106, 107). Color pattern: Light brown above, with 7 brown longitudinal lines broader than inter- spaces, vertebral stripe bifurcating on nape, stripe on flank faint; limbs with light ocelli, venter cream; lower surface of tail yellow and sides of body yellowish in life (Anderson 1999: 224). Variation: “The single Iranian specimen examined (CAS 96263) differs from 2 northern extralimital specimens examined in having 5 rather than 6 supralabials anterior to subocular, and in having fifth chin shield in contact with the infralabials. In 19 specimens from Turkey, fifth chin shield is separated from infralabials, and usually 6 supralabials (rarely 5 or 7) anterior to subocular” (Anderson 1999: 224). |
