Type locality: Chimantá Tepui, Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, elevation 1900 m.

TypesHolotype: FMNH 74038, a 630 mm male (J.A. Steyermark and J. Wurdack, 12 Feb. 1955). 
DiagnosisSee diagnosis of Liophis torrenicola. 
CommentLiophis (cobella) trebbaui, previously in the synonymy of L. ingeri, has been revalidated to full species status by DONNELLY & MYERS 1991. 
EtymologyNamed after Robert F. Inger (1920-2019), American herpetologist.
