Distribution: Reported from but not listed by DAS 1999 for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Possibly in Bhutan (Lenz 2012).

Subspecies after MAUSFELD & SCHMITZ (2003). Mabuya multifasciata rudis has been elevated to species status.

Type Species: Euprepes Sebae DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1839 is the type species of the genus Eutropis (fide DAS et al. 2008).

Key: for a key to Philippine species of Eutropis see Barley et al. 2020: 67.
EtymologyNamed after Latin multi= many and fascia = band, probably after the more or less obvious dorsal stripes of the species.

The genus name comes from Greek eu-, meaning “good”, and the noun Τροπις, tropis, the keel of a ship. In combination, Eutropis refers to the keeled scales. The gender of the genus is feminine (Mausfeld et al. 2002: 289, Böhme & Denzer 2019).
