CommentGreer et al. synonymized A. poecilopus with A. melanurus [F. Glaw, pers. comm.]

Type species: Gongylus melanurus GÜNTHER 1877: 314 is the type species of the genus Flexiseps ERENS et al. 2017. 
EtymologyNamed after Greek melanos (μέλανος), black, for the dark color of the species.
