Type locality: Barranco de Chinguarime (28°01'10"N, 17°10'10"W), La Gomera, Kanarische Inseln.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: Eine Rieseneidechse mit nur einer Reihe von 5-6 Pterygoidzähnehen,
maximal 24 Maxillar- und 26 Dentalzähnen. Gesamtlänge kleiner als bei G. goliath von Tenerife. Parietalforamen offen [from HUTTERER 185]. 
CommentNomenclature: Following the ruling of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, the name of this species is Gallotia bravoana, not Gallotia gomerana (IUCN Redlist website, accessed 18 Feb 2010).

Conservation: G. goliath is extinct.

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyDie neue Form ist Herrn Dr. Telesforo Bravo, Tenerife, in Anerkennung seiner großen Verdienste um die Erforschung der Geologie und Paläontologie der Kanarischen Inseln gewidmet.
