Diagnosis | Diagnosis: G. insulensis seems to be different from G. mutilata only genetically. Adults 36–50 mm SVL (vs. 59–84 mm in G. oceanica). Tail flattened cylindrical without distinct segmentation (oceanica with distinct segmentation) and with a ventrolateral bor- der of small elongate scales; distinct digital pads with 8–9 subdigital lamellae (12-16 in oceanica) on fourth digit of hindfoot (modified after Zug 2013: plate 5). |
Comment | Synonymy: Gehyra insulensis has been synonymized with G. mutilata by many previous authors but more recently accepted as a valid species. Sometimes cited as GIRARD 1857. |
