Distribution	Mexico (Chiapas), Guatemala ? Type locality: Chicharras, Chiapas, Mexico, ca. 1035 m elevation.

Etymology	Named after Latin cancellatus, reticulated, having a lattice/grid pattern. [“...cross bars on body terminating laterally at the first scale row...”].
