TypesLectotype: MNHN-RA 4522, adult female, designated by Downs 1967: 133; other Syntypes: (10 total) MNHN-RA 3313 (three specimens respectively MNHN-RA 3313, MNHN-RA 3313A and MNHN-RA 3313B), MNHN-RA 5938 and MNHN-RA 5938A-E, fifth syntype apparently lost.

CommentMimicry: Geophis semidoliatus mimicks Micrurus diastema (TORRE-LORANCA et al. 2006). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin semi-, half, partly + Greek dolion (δόλιον), barrel; Latin dolion, large earthenware vessel. [“...en dessus et latéralement, elle sert de fond à de grandes taches quadrilatères d’un beau noir, ou d’un brun foncé, imprimées en travers du tronc et de la queue de façon à simuler des demi-anneaux...”].
