Type locality: Not stipulated; from Wabash River, New Harmony, Indiana, U.S.A., according to LeSueur 1827 and "Etats-Unis, Indiana, rivière Wabash, entre MontVernon et Chaumetown (=Shawneetown), c'est-à-dire près du confluent de la Wabash et de l'Ohio" according to Bour and Dubois 1983 (cited after KING & BURKE 1989).

Reproductionoviparous. Exhibits temperature‐dependent sex determination (TSD) fide Cornejo-Páramo et al. 2020 (and references therein).

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Graptemys pseudogeographica kohnii (Baur, 1890) has been raised to species status, but later again synonymized with pseudogeographica (Vogt 1993). CONANT & COLLINS 1991 treat kohnii and pseudogeographica as separate species but point out that their relationships are controversial.

Diet: omnivore.

Habitat: freshwater (lakes, rivers) 
Etymologynot genuine map-like; referring to its resemblance of Graptemys geographica
