Type locality: Colombia, Santander, Carare.  
Reproductionovovivparous (Braz et al. 2016) 
TypesHolotype: IBSP (= IB) 9872, juvenile female (Instituto Butantan) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Helicops danieli is readily distinguished from its congeners by its spotted dorsum in combination with a ventral pattern consisting of 2 rows of semilunar marks on a light background (Schöneberg & Köhler 2021).

CommentHelicops danieli has been confused with Helicops carinicaudus. 
Etymologynamed after the holotype’s donor Hermano Daniel, a pioneer in Colombian herpetology.
