Distribution	Republic of South Africa (Western Cape Province) Type locality: Northern slope of Landdroskop, Hottentots-Holland Mountains, South Africa.

Types	Holotype: SAM 50905, adult male. Allotype: SAM 50906, adult female. Paratypes: SAM 50907, adult male; SAM 50908, adult female. All specimens collected on 10 June 1993.
Diagnosis
Comment	Nomenclature: This name is preoccupied in Cordylus by C. nebulosus A. Smith 1838, a synonym of C. cataphractus, but as the latter appears to be the sister species of all other Cordylus (Frost et. al. 2001), it required to be placed in a new monotypic genus, so that a new name will not be required (Mouton, pers. comm., STANLEY et al. 2011). Ovoviviparous. Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017).
Etymology	The designated name, Pseudocordylus nebulosus, from Latin nebulosus, full of vapor, foggy, cloudy, dark, literally means the cloudy or dark crag lizard, refers to its occurrence within the mist belt of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains, as well as its melanistic body colour.
