Type locality: Outer stone wall of Golconda Fort, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.

TypesHolotype: ZSI 25711 (male), collector Graham O’ Brian, February 3, 2007. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: This species differs from all Indian species of the genus Hemidactylus by the following combination of characteristics: SVL 59.1 – 70.2 mm, 15 – 16 transverse rows of tubercles at midbody, 6 transverse rows of tubercles on the first segment of the tail, 6 – 7 lamellae on digit I of pes and 9 on digit IV of pes, 14 precloacal-femoral pores in males, 11 – 12 supralabials, 10 infralabials and three enlarged postcloacal spurs, posterior most spur being approximately three times larger than the anterior pair which are of equal size to each other.
