Type locality: Colombia, Cauca, Quebrada Guangui, 0.5 km above Rio Patia (Upper Rio Saija drainage), 100-200 m

DiagnosisDiagnosis: A moderately large (maximum ob served snout-vent length 110 mm), striped Ameiva distinguished from other species of Ameiva and from all other macroteiids (Teiinae: see MacLean, 1974) by the granular ven tral scales of the chest and the resulting low number (19-23) of longitudinal rows of en larged ventral scales (Echternacht 1977).
