Type locality: "mont Kina Balu, Bornéo" [=Mt. Kinabalu].

Diagnosis 
CommentSTUEBING & INGER (1991) considered this species as a synonym of H. periops. 
EtymologyEpithet praefrontalis is formed from prae+frontalis. prae- is word-forming element meaning "before," from Latin prae (adv.) "before"; reduced to pre- in Medieval Latin; frontalis is from frons (“forehead, brow, front”) +‎ -ālis (“-al”, adjectival suffix). It references the distinct formation of the prefrontals scales that are fused, making it distinct from other cogeners.
