TypesHolotype: MNHN 1999.6574, a 610 mm male (P. Laboute, 22 July, 1988). 

Habitat: marine. 
EtymologyThe specific name is dedicated to the collector of the holotype, Pierre Laboute, a diver and submarine photographer at the French IRD research organization (Nouméa Station, New Caledonia).
