Type locality: Duque de Bragança, Angola.

TypesSyntype: BMNH 1946.9.3.47-48 (1866.6.11.3-4), ZMB 5827; additional syntypes in Lisbon were probably destroyed by a fire in 1975.
Holotype: MD 1854 (collector A. Barros Machado) [pallida] 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Boulenger 1887: 78 listed this species as a synonym of I. capensis. 
EtymologyNamed after “bi-” = two or dual and Latin “vitta, -ae” = band or stripe.
