Type locality: Darjeeling, 27° 02' N, 88° 16' E, 2285 m, West Bengal Province, India  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: FMNH 191889; Collected by: B. B. Sinha; Collection Date: October 5, 1971. Paratype: (n=1) FMNH 191888, an adult male collected by B. B. Sinha (field no. BBS 17) with same data as holotype. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Typhlops meszoelyi can be distinguished from all southern Asian Typhlops except T. exiguus and T. loveridgei by the combination of 18 longitudinal scale rows plus a T-III supralabial imbrication pattern. The presence of a deep concavity along the posterior border of the nasal shield separates T. meszoelyi from all southern Asian Typhlops. (Wallach 1999)
