Type locality: “Adderley, Pilloor, and Rockwood”, “Nilgiris Hills”, India [spanning Tamil Nadu and Kerala]; elevation 3000-6000 ft (~1000-2000 m)  
TypesHolotype: BMNH (givern as “unlocated” in McDiarmid et al. 1999: 60-61) 
CommentSynonymy: Most authors list this species as a synonym of Indotyphlops braminus (e.g. WALLACH et al. 2014: 626). However, A. Wynn, pers. comm., thinks this may be a good species after briefly looking at its type in BMNH. 
EtymologyNamed after “Mr. F.W.F. Fletcher of Rockwood”.
