TypesHolotype: BMNH 1947.2.18.33 (formerly 1938.8.3.56), collected by D. Vesey-Fitzgerald. 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Cheke (1984) considers Janetaescincus veseyfitzgeraldi a synonym of J. braueri. The species is now considered as a juvenile of J. braueri. However, the 2 species are about the same size. 
EtymologyNamed after Leslie Desmond Edward Foster Vesey-Fitzgerald (1909-1974), an Irish zoologist, herpetologist, and environmentalist.
