Type locality: Funafuti Atoll, Tuvalu Island, Polynesia (8° 34’ S, 179° 04’ E).

Diagnosis 
CommentSimilar species: Member of Lepidodactylus group II, most similar to L. gardineri.

Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after the words for “small lizard” in the local Tuvaluan language and Tepuka island where the first specimens were discovered.
